摘要 1520280 Engine balancing HONDA GIKEN KOGYO KK 3 Sept 1975 [10 Sept 1974] 36365/75 Heading F1M A reaction moment balancing device for an engine comprises a balance shaft 3 rotatably supported by the crank-case 1 of the engine in parallel with the engine crank-shaft 2 and provided with a weight 7a of a predetermined mass and transmission means including a pair of intermeshing driving and driven gears 4, 5 mounted on the crank-shaft and balance shaft respectively and having such a gear ratio that the reaction moments exerted on the crank-case by the rotary systems respectively including the crank-shaft 2 and the balance shaft 3 balance with each other, the transmission means further including cushioning means 15 for absorbing shock in the gear transmission between the crankshaft and the balance shaft and phase-controlling means 9, 10 adapted to limit upon shock absorbing operation of the cushioning means, phase shift between the crank-shaft and the balance shaft within a predetermined range. The device further comprises friction clutch means 18 provided for the transmission means to over-ride the cushioning means and arranged to be in engagement without any slip while restraining the cushioning means in an inoperative state as long as the torque transmitted between the crank-shaft and the balance shaft remains below a predetermined level. As described the weight 7a with which the balance shaft 3 is provided takes the form of the rotor of an electric generator 7.
