1519766 Electric couplings; soldering RAYCHEM SA NV 5 Sept 1975 [6 Sept 1974] 39125/74 Heading H2E [Also in Division B3] A connector comprises a heat-shrinkable sleeve containing an infusible spacer 3 which divides the interior into two or more compartments, a portion of a fusible member 2, preferably a ring of solder, e.g. Su63 lying in each compartment. Conductors or other bodies 6, 7 to be connected are inserted into the compartments, and on heating, the sleeve shrinks and the fusible member melts into the compartments, separating at the compartment boundaries, to secure the conductors in place and electrically connect them. Outer rings 5 of fusible plastics may be included to seal the ends of the connection on heating. The spacer may have the cross-shaped section indicated, a similar section but with printed ends or alternatively a square section. Pin or socket contacts may be provided at one end of the connector. |
