<p>1520103 Air separation processes AIR PRODUCTS & CHEMICALS Inc 19 March 1977 11755/77 Heading F4P In a two-stage air separation process for producing liquid oxygen and/or liquid nitrogen, the cold requirements are provided by dividing the compressed, dry and CO 2 free air into a first stream 12 and a second stream 13, tapping off a side stream from the first stream, expanding the air in the side stream at 17 and using it in a heat exchanger 16 where it cools the first and second streams, expanding the second stream at 22 and using part of that air to cool the first stream in a second heat exchanger 18. The expanders 17 and 22 are coupled to compressors 14 and 20 respectively. The remainder of the second stream is fed to a high pressure column 25 as is the first stream after being expanded through a valve 19.</p> |
