1520200 Anti-tumor vaccines WISTAR INSTITUTE 23 Dec 1976 [1 June 1976] 53723/76 Heading A5B A vaccine for stimulating the immune mechanism of a species of mammal to species-specific tumors is produced by infecting cells of the species-specific tumor from the said species of mammal, in cell culture in vitro, with a virus which is less pathogenic to said mammal than is the tumor, maintaining the virus-infected cell culture under culture conditions until a viral oncolysate has formed, and harvesting the oncolysate. The preferred virus is a Vaccinia virus, the harvesting may be performed by freezing and then thawing the oncolysate, centrifuging and removing the supernatent fluid to leave a sedimented pellet which is re-suspended in saline, homogenised and optionally freeze-dried. |
