Fireproof polyesters from brominated dihydroxy alkoxy-diphenyl sulfones

A fireproof linear aromatic polyester having a high stability to ultraviolet rays and heat contains a unit of the formula: WHEREIN R1 and R2 are each a straight or branched alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms and n1 and n2 are each an integer of from 1 to 4. The addition of an organic pentavalent phosphorus compound may improve the fireproof properties of products prepared from said polyesters.
