<p>The pump is particularly for handling fluids containing entrained gas bubbles, and incorporates means for producing a reduced pressure in the volute housing (1) to the rear of the impeller (4) in relation to the single inlet to the impeller eye (3) when the pump is working. These means can incorporate a fluid chamber (9) above the level of the volute housing and communicating with this at the side of the impeller opposite to the single inlet. Valves operating dependent on the level in the chamber initially connect it to a vacuum source, and after the fluid level has risen, with the atmosphere. Means (7, 8) are included causing the pump to remove the fluid from the chamber after connection to atmosphere has taken place.</p> |
