<p>1472944 Ball or rod mills, wet grinding ISPRA SpA 27 March 1974 [4 April 1973] 13499/74 Heading B2A [Also in Divisions Cl and Dl] An apparatus comprising means for dispersing asbestos in water 1, 2, diluting -means 3, a hydrocyclone 7 and a rod or ball mill 4 connected for cyclic operation, means for collecting and dewatering over-fibres 8 and means for bringing the dewatered fibres into a suspension in water of a predetermined composition 12 is used in a process for opening asbestos wherein asbestos is treated to open the fibres by dispersing it in 12.5-50 times its weight of water, further diluting, separating the over-fibres, subjecting the remaining under-fibres to opening by mechanical impact in an aqueous environment, separating the resulting suspended fibres and recycling the unopened fibres to the mechanical opening operation until a predetermined useful limit is reached, dewatering the total batch of separated fibres and suspending them into suspension with sufficient water to provide uniform predetermined concentration.</p> |
