Foam mat for sports uses, e.g. as a landing area for high jumpers or pole vaulters, comprises laminate of dissimilar grades and characteristics, and has cavities over its entire length. The top foam lamina pref. has hardness 6-10; >=20% elongation; and ultimate tensile strength 0.80 kp/cm2, whilst the corresp. values for the bottom lamina are 15-19, 200% 1.2 kp/cm2, respectively.
