A flowmeter for dispensing measured quantities of liquid such as oil or water leaving a separator comprises a float 11 slidable, in a measuring chamber 1, on a pipe 5 in which is mounted an actuating member 7 connected at one end to a valve-operating lever 21 and, at the other end, to projections 8 such that the float abuts the lever or projections in its upper and lower positions, respectively, in order to control the flow of liquid to and from the measuring chamber. The valve operating lever 21 is connected, via a spring-pawl 20 and rod 19, to a slide valve 18 which is adapted to control the flow of a pressurized gas to a diaphragmactuated valve 12. In operation, with the measuring chamber empty, liquid flows through an inlet 14 in the valve 12 and a pipe 13 into the measuring chamber. On reaching its upper position, the float abuts the lever 21 so as to move the valve 18 and thereby admit gas, via a pipe 17, to act on the diaphragm valve to thereby close the inlet 14 and open the outlet 15 from the valve 12. When the float reaches its lower position, it abuts the projections 8 to reverse the above procedure.</p> |
