Shelling of fine grain material such as sesame seed, poppy or rape seed, involves introducing the grain together with water into a housing and then moving it around in the housing. The mixt. is continuously moved through the housing and at the same time by means of vortexing , is set into motion around the mixer axis, then stopped and deflected through a radial direction along the axis.The housing has an inlet and an outlet ith a shaft down the centre. On this are mounted a series of discs which rotate. On the housing are mounted a series of brake baffles. The discs have shelling devices around their outer edge while the braking elements are formed so that the grain/water mixt. is set in motion by the shelling discs and is deflected in the radial direction by the housing.Cf. the use of a conventional water/sand suspension, the shelling can be continuous.
