<p>An insertion cpd. comprises an element inserted into a halide of lamellar structure and of formula MBX. In the formula, M is a transition element L existing several states of oxidn. from +2 to +4, such as Fe, Ti, V, Cr, Mn or Co, or the gp. L1-aL'a (where L' is a transition element different from L but pref. from the same gp. and a is 0-1); B is an electronegative element such as N, O or F, these elements being able to substitute partially between themselves, or S, Se or Te, these elements also being able to substitute partially between themselves; X is a halogen. The insertion cpd. can be used as an electrode material for a prim. or sec. electrochemical generator. The insertion cpd. can be readily obtd. at relatively low cost. Generators contg. this insertion cpd. as electrode have a high capacity for storage of electrical energy.</p> |
