The roller (5) and cage (3) assembly is for use on sliding doors or windows and is designed to fit in a bottom rail (12). The cage has a hollow rectangular horizontal section and houses a roller on a transverse horizontal axle (4). The edges of the roller reciprocate the section of the rail (18, 19). The long plan centre line of the cage may extend on each side in the form of a vertical web, and the webs terminate in a symmetrical transverse flange. The flanks of the cage are thus 'H' shaped with two vertical channels (7) to each major face. The channels may extend for the full height of the cage and may locate the packing pieces.
