<p>A high speed spinning bowl for the head of a centrifugal atomiser to generate small droplets for electrostatic spraying, has a serrated or crenellated lip to disrupt the flow from the bowl. The effect on the spray pattern is to suppress any regularly divergent or convergent streams from the bowl lip which could result in microvoids in the sprayed coating due to e.g. premature coalescence of some of the droplets. The notches around the lip may be of angular trapezoidal form and may be irregular in their form or spacing. The roots of the slats may be cut through the rim at an angle to the radius of the mouth of the bowl.</p> |
