A detector for textile yarns, e.g., of picks passing through the weft channel of modern weaving looms, has an electrode which responds to an electrostatic charge applied to a yarn which passes through its loop. The output signal is passed through an amplifier and to a decision-making unit which cuts out the loom drive in case of irregularities. This is a simpler system and is less sensitive to vibrations than a photoecltrocnic detector system. It is functionally reliable over long periods of operation and has a faster response than other systems.
|
