The portable compressed-air impact tool has a striker piston reciprocating in a housing to form working chambers of variable volume. The housing has a distributor chamber connected to the working chambers and to the compressed air supply in turn by a valve working in it. The valve (22) is a cylindrical sleeve, enclosing one or more openings (32) with its inner surface, through which the air is delivered to the distributor chamber (19). This opening leads to one or more lengthwise channels (29) formed in the valve, permanently connected to the compressed air supply, and delivering to the working chamber inlet passages (25, 26).
