<p>A gas scrubber, esp. for flue gases, consists of an absorption tower with a packing through which the gases pass in counterflow to the washing medium. The ratio of thickness to diameter of the packing layer is held to 0.15-0.4 and the thickness is made 1.0-1.6m. A lower thinner layer of metal packing elements is pref. followed by a thicker layer of plastic elements. The absorption tower combines a good scrubbing effect with a freedom from the risk of clogging even when the flue gases contain solid particles of, e.g. Na2SO4.</p> |
