<p>A brake dynamometer with rollers is used to test road vehicles. It allows for any load transfer additional to static weight during braking. It prevents any skidding of the wheel under test. The dynamometer has coupled drive rollers (1, 2). The rollers (1, 2) are driven by a belt (5) connected to an electric motor (4). The wheel (R) under test is located on the rollers (1, 2). A spring restrained lever (6) gives a measure of any braking couple of the wheel (R). Another roller (11) situated above the wheel (R) can increase the load applied by the wheel (R) to the rollers (1, 2). The two drive rollers (1, 2) may be replaced by one roller, then two additional rollers are used to increase the load at the drive roller.</p> |
