The two stroke engine has a fuel injection system (11) whose piezo electric regulator valve (12) is subject to electrical impulses. The impulses are taken from the magnet part of the high tension ignition system, or from an independent source. The actuating impulse is fed to an electronic switch (19) preferably a thyristor SCR 1. When the switch becomes conductive via the ignition electrode (17) the injector valve (12) is opened by the primary impulse of the ignition magnet (6) to allow fuel to enter the engine combustion chamber. Each impulse signal is fed to a frequency comparator input (19). The comparator output is fed to an integrator which is pre-programmed to adjust the injector valve according to the generator frequency selected.
