Silicone rubber elastomer seal for inker-head opening - contains hardener e.g. di:cumyl peroxide and opt. an organic amine hardening retarder

An elastomer, esp. a silicone rubber, is used to seal openings of an inker-heat filled with an aq. liquid. The viscous elastic flow behaviour of the elastomer is made use of to fill the smallest cavities and interspaces in the sealed inker-head surface. A pref. silicone rubber consists of (i) 10 pts. wt. silicone rubber, crosslinked at room temp. with 1 pt. wt. crosslinking agent, or of (ii) silicone rubber crosslinked with 0.5-1% crosslinking agent, esp. dicumyl peroxide, at 180 degrees C for 20 mins. Elastomer flow is limited and coating can be removed without leaving residues on inker-head surface or in nozzles. Coating adhesion is reversible.
