Cutting lengths of synthetic resin non-circular pipes - in which the cutters move around the pipe and are biased against it

A device for cutting pipes into lengths, partic. pipes of non-circular cross-section, includes a rotating drum which moves with the pipe and which pivotally carries on its leading edge a lever. One end of the lever carries a rotating cutter, and the other end is engaged by a piston and cylinder device which permanently biases the cutter against the pipe as it moves round the pipe. The piston and cylinder device is connected to an accumulator to ensure an even pressure of the cutter on the pipe in spite of the shape of the pipe. The device is of use in cutting freshly extruded plastics pipe of non-circular cross-section.
