<p>The mattress has two strips of material attached to it, spaced apart along the mattress and folded around the top, two sides and a short way across the bottom, to form two lifting handles. Each strip (15) is unwound from a roll (9), passing between feed rollers (7, 8) across a table (5) to pass under the bottom (2) of the mattress. Two zones (21, 22) are sprayed with a thermoplastics adhesive from two nozzles (19, 20), and after the length of material has been cut by cutting blades (12, 13) the ends (15, 16) are folded over the two adhesive coated zones while it is hardening, by a vertically reciprocating pressure frame (25) above.</p> |
