<p>A number of standard layers of items, each with the same base area, are first stacked together, and a special layer is then placed on this stack, forming two re-entrant areas at the sides to accommodate the prongs of a fork lift. A cowl of shrinkable material is then drawn over the stack from above, and shrunk by heating so as to fit it tightly in place. The stack is then inverted through 180 deg., bringing the cowl with fork cavities formed in it to the bottom, and a further cowl of shrinkable material is drawn over it from the top. This is then shrunk into close contact with the stack by heating, being welded to the first cowl in the process.</p> |
