Vineyard post as a closed steel section has slots with beaded rims at equal spacing, the beadings being larger lengthways than in the transverse direction. Preferably the slots should be adjoined by grooves, and hooks inserted in the slots should be bent into the specified shape. Otherwise wires can be inserted in the slots and finally bent into the required design. These beaded slots protect the normal types of supporting wire etc from damage on otherwise sharp edges, and the insertion of wire hooks means that these can be designed independently of the post itself. The shape prevents any weakening of the post as a result of the slotting action.
