Appts. for filling pillows, bolsters etc. with synthetic fibres includes removing layers from bales of the fibres and depositing them onto a beater conveyor from which they are discharged into a beater drum. They are then blown into a rotary mixer drum followed by a silo. Two different sets of beater units are used for fibres 5 mm and 50 mm long, which are mixed together in the mixer drum. The mixt. discharged into the silo is then passed through a weighing device to control the amt. deposited into the filled article. The beater conveyor has an endless belt carrying beater arms with spikes. The beater drum houses a carding wheel to open the fibres.
