摘要 <p>In a chilled electromagnetic mould for (semi)continuous casting, an inducator provides an electromagnetic field determining the outer surface of a hollow casting. The inductor is located in a housing contg. channels for a coolant, e.g. water, sprayed onto the outer surface of the casting; a screen located between the outer surface of the casting and the bore of inductor distributes the magnetic field in an axial direction. A second inductor, coaxial with the first and located in a second housing, determines the bore of the casting; the second housing is filled with water sprayed onto the bore of the casting; a second screen distributes the bore field in an axial direction. Both inductors pref. have a single turn, with height ratio a:b of 1.2-3:1, the two inductors being connected in series. Used for casting hollow billets or pipes in (non)ferrous metals or alloys. A wide range of outside dias. and bore dias. can be obtd. with excellent casting quality.</p>
