Recovery of bromine and platinum and other noble metals - and radioactive isotopes, from the ash of tropical fruits

This is an addn. to 1540212 which described a process for winning Au, Pa, Re, Rh, the lanthanides, and natural radioactive isotopes e.g. U, Th, Ra, for the nuclear-, chemical-, and noble metal- industries, starting from the flesh and/or the peel of tropical fruits. The novelty in the present invention is that bromine and platinum are also recovered, where the flesh and/or peel of tropical fruits, esp. bananas, is crushed, and then roasted at 820-840 degrees C. in an oxidising atmos. without forming carbon, to form a mineral ash which is digested and treated in a conventional manner. In addn. to the winning of metals described in the main patent, Pt and Br can be recovered in an economic way. The recovery of both the Pt and the Br is less trouble and more economic than their winning from minerals, ores etc.
