The mechanism delivers sheets of paper from a stack, having a rotary grip on a shaft to feed the sheets one by one. One or more pressure members are mounted above the stack, bearing against it before the topmost sheet is gripped. A lver (11) is mounted on the shaft (5), to turn the uppermost position, and then to extract the sheet from the stack. The pressure members can be discs (10) fixed to the shaft, each with a recess machined in the outer edge in the same sector as where the lever is mounted. Thus pressure on the stack is released at the moment when the top sheet is extracted from it. The grip can be a rectangular toothed frame (8), the teeth protruding beyond the discs for no more than the thickness of a sheet.
