<p>Separation of gas mixt. into its components is carried out using a carbon type molecular sieve which adsorbe one component preferentially to others. The gas stream which is then enriched in the other component is taken as prod. The bed is regenerated by reducing the pressure to take off the other component e.g. with the aid of a vacuum pump. The repressurisation of the bed up to operating pressure prior to putting back on stream is done in two stages. It is raised during the first stage or stages to an intermediate pressure. It is then raised to the adsorption pressure. The repressurisation is carried out with non-sepd. gas. An enriched stream can be extracted from the bed during the pressure build up during the final stages of pressure build up. Used for sepg. gas mixts. esp. air into its constituent components. The problem with putting regenerated beds straight back on stream is that the initial gas stream has a rather elevated O2 content. The process described overcomes this problem.</p> |
