1519344 Spring hinges JAMESBURY CORP 28 Aug 1975 [13 Dec 1974] 35476/75 Heading E2F A hinge and detent assembly comprises a bearing 20 attached to a frame 10, a hinge arm 18 movably coupled to the bearing, and an over-centre spring means 34 secured to the frame 10 and including at least one resilient leg 56 having oppositely inclined camming surfaces 66, 68 for engaging the arm 18, the camming surfaces being separated by a nose portion 64 to provide the over-centre action, and the leg 56 including a generally S-shaped curvature and having a varying thickness along its length. Preferably the bearing 20 includes a pair of upstanding arms 40 having grooves therein for gripping a cross member portion 48 of the hinge arm 18, while riser arm portions 50 of the hinge arm 18 may be closely aligned with extensions 70 provided on the bearing 20. A cover structure 22 may be attached to arm portions 46 of the arm 18 and is thus held in either a raised or a lowered position by the spring means. |
