In a marine power plant for operating two or more propellers 6, 7 for instance of the controllable pitch type, each propeller can be connected to an engine 4, 5 for full speed operation and to an engine 16, 17 for cruising speed operation, one or both of which comprises gas turbines and in addition at least two of the gas turbines are served by a common gas generator 2 comprising a compressor a combustion chamber and a turbine for operating the compressor. Between the turbines and the pinions are clutches 21, 22 which permit operation on full speed turbines 4, 5 or cruising speed turbines 16, 17 or operation on all turbines simultaneously. The line 18 can be provided with a butterfly valve in each branch for controlling the supply of gas to the turbines 16, 17. The engines for full speed operation can be diesel engines. |
