<p>1485728 Refractory magnesite grain DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc 4 July 1975 [28 Aug 1974] 28360/75 Heading C1J A refractory magnesite grain comprising from 86 to 95% by weight of MgO as periclase and up to 10% by weight of calcium zirconate and dicalcium silicate may be prepared by mixing magnesium hydroxide slurry, limeyielding material and zircon, calcining and then dead burning the mixture to provide a grain. The grain may be characterized by having periclase crystallites surrounded by films of dicalcium silicate and finely crystalline calcium zirconate within the films. In the example, the grain is prepared by slurry mixing caustic magnesia, hydrated dolomite and zircon, drying the slurry, briquetting and burning the briquettes. The grain is then size graded, mixed with pitch and carbon black, formed into a brick and baked.</p> |
