1462286 Enamelling wire BICC Ltd 25 July 1975 [26 July 1974] 33143/74 Heading D1L Wire is coated using a solventless or semisolventless enamel by pre-heating the wire to a temperature such that in subsequent coating the heat content of the wire removes any solvent by flash evaporation and cures the enamel to a non-tacky condition, the coating then being cured in a hot fluidised bed. The wire is also preferably pre-heated in a fluidised bed. Multiple coatings are applied by passing the wire alternately through an enamel applicator and fluidised beds, the intermediate beds re-heating the partially coated wire. The beds may be silica or ballotini (glass beads) fluidised by air, N 2 or steam.
|
