<p>The seat belt blocking mechanism is accommodated in a housing (10) fitted to the housing of the seat belt take up mechanism with spool onto which the windings of seat belt (S) are coiled ro uncoiled. The housing (10) is pref. made of a plastics material. Wall (12) has a substantial thickness provided at the top with eyelet and axle (16) on which the catch arm (17) is hinged. Inside the housing the base is provided with a bridge (15) on which container (20) with notched base (27) is balanced in a free manner. Inside the container, ball (30) is resting in a troughlike base (25). When deceleration occurs, ball (30) rolls forward on slope (23) thereby shifting the centre of gravity in such a way that container performs a tilting movement whereby its rear edge (31) lifts the catch (17) the tip (19) of which engages with the nearest tooth of ratchet wheel (11).</p> |
