The cutting into lengths of continuously cast slab involves the steps of measuring the width, thickness and temp. of the product leaving the continuous casting device, determining the desired value of the length from these parameters to give a desired value of the weights of the cut products and controlling the cessation of the cutting operation when the measured length of the cast product is equal to the desired length.
