The output aperture of a normal microscope generally has only a limited diameter, with the result that the eye of the viewer must be in a precisely defined position in order to observe the image. Multilens elements are already known with the aid of which it is possible by rotation to view a completely enlarged field, but with the disadvantage of a degraded image quality at the image centre. The invention eliminates this disadvantage by means of an essentially planar optical device, corresponding sets of parallel grooves being present on two parallel surfaces (42, 44) of the device in such a way that the grooves in one surface are arranged transverse to the grooves in the other surface. The action of the device provided with grooves consists in the provision of an enlarged aperture with perfect image quality, specifically both in the state of rest and during rotation of the device about an axis (46). The viewer (50) sees an enlarged image with a complete field of view. The viewer can easily change the position of his head without the complete field of view thereby being lost. <IMAGE> |
