Railway track bed flexible underlay plate - has hollow ribs on underside with full length internal stems reaching toward base

The flexible underlay plate, for railway track permanent way is fitted on its underside with hollow ribs (13) set parallel and running at intervals across its whole width. Each of these has a stem piece (23), formed in the internal space and extending towards the inside base without coming into contact with it. The hollow ribs can have a cross-sectional height which is a multiple of the plate's thickness. They may be partially or wholly filled with porous or cellular foamed material. This provides elastic and resilient support and provides insulation from solid-conducted noise distribution.
