<p>Ceramic burner, esp. for the combustion shaft of wind heaters used on blast furnaces, where a gas inlet channel (a) is located coaxially below the combustion shaft (b); and channel (a) has a zone (a1) with increased dia. below shaft (b). Zone (a1) has at least one inlet hole for air of combustion creating a swirling effect or vortex in the zone (a1). The air is pref. fed into an annular channel (c) which surrounds channel (a) in the refractory lining of the burner, and several holes located opposite each other, and fitted with control valves, carry the air from channel (c) into zone (a1). In an alternative design, channel (c) may consist of a ring manifold located outside the burner, with pipes contg. valves feeding air to zone (a1). A simple design which can accommodate wide fluctuations in the gas supply.</p> |
