The adjustable ladder for sea rescue has a tubular frame in two parts which are hinged horizontally to allow the lower (3) to extend the upper (2) or be stowed against it. To permit fitting the ladder to varying shape hulls or transoms the upper part carries telescopically adjustable brackets (14, 15) ending in mounting pads (16, 17) each including a spherical joint. Adjustable bolts in the feet of the upper part bearing against stops in the lower to limit the swing of the latter. The rungs are spaced to avoid interference in the stowed position for which there is a retaining catch (19).
