The vaporiser for a pot type oil fired domestic boiler burner is a shallow round box (1) mounted centrally in the burner floor (6) sump. The box has a cover (2) with holes; an opening in the side for the oil feed pipe (5). A pipe (4) for a second, separately manually controlled, fuel supply terminates outside the box; through this a limited quantity of fuel (pref. methylated spirit) is admitted for lighting up. Ignition is by conventional means. A radiant spiral stabiliser (7) can be fitted on top of the vaporiser.
