The expanding socket with external screw thread is driven into a hole drilled in masonry, there being an expander body forced into it between gripping jaws at the inner end, opposite to the threaded end. An opening (6), typically a central drilling, is formed in the shank of the socket, extended from between the jaws (5) to the threaded end (4). A feeler (12) inserted through this drilling allows the final position of the expander body (2) to be checked. As an alternative to the drilling, the feeler can be inserted along an external groove formed in the shank (1). The feeler can have an indicator, typically a stop (13) at the outer end acting against the screwed shank end, to show when it has been inserted for the maximum amount.
|
