1509521 Acylated imidazolyl-O,N-acetals and their use as fungicides BAYER AG 4 Feb 1977 [7 Feb 1976 20 May 1976 11 Sept 1976] 04677/77 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds which are acylated imidazolyl-O,N-acetals or salts or metal complexes thereof, the acylated imidazolyl-O,N-acetals being of the general formula I in which R is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl haloalkyl, optionally substituted phenyl or phenoxyalkyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino or optionally substituted phenylamino, X is halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl, alkylthio, alkoxy carbonyl, optionally substituted phenyl or phenoxy, optionally substituted phenylalkyl, amino, cyano or nitro and n is 0 or an integer of 1 to 5. The compounds of Formula I may be prepared by reacting a compound of formula wherein X and n are defined above with (a) an acid halide of formula Hal-CO-R in which R is defined above and Hal is halogen in the presence of a solvent or (b) an acid anhydride of formula R-CO-O-CO-R in the presence of a solvent and optionally in the presence of a catalyst or (c) a ketene of formula in which R1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or halomethyl in the presence of a solvent and optionally in the presence of a catalyst or (d) an isocyanate of formula O=C=N-R11 in which R11 is alkyl or optionally in the presence of a catalyst. The compounds of Formula I are used as fungicides and bactericides and compositions of such are described and claimed.
