A guide plate n18) is mounted in the recess which takes the plug. This plate can move axially in the direction of the contact sockets (13, 14), and, when the socket is not in use it occupies a position at the outer end of the recess. A spring (23) ensures that it returns to this position when the plug is withdrawn. In the unplugged state the guide plate indicates the position of the contact sockets so that the plug can be inserted correctly without difficulty. In the absence of such a plate the contact sockets (13, 14) may be invisible, especially if the fitting is mounted close to the floor.
