An oil-water mixture is fed through a feed line (12, 240, 242) to the separator tank (10). Separated oil flows out through an outflow line (250, 251). Falling water is taken off through an outflow line (214, 216) after it has flowed through coalescer screens (200). The falling water passes into the coalescer chamber (202) with the coalescer screens (200) through non-return valves (210). For backflushing, clean water is introduced through the outflow line (214, 216) into the coalescer chamber (202). This water flows through the coalescer screens (200) and then through the non-return valves (212), into the coalescer hood (250) and from there through the line to the upper part of the tank (10). Because of the non-return valves (210, 212) the separation is improved and, in particular, an upwardly directed flow is obtained during backflushing. A virtually complete removal of the oil droplets from the coalescer screens is thus achieved during backflushing. <IMAGE> |
