1518372 Separating chlorine from gas mixtures TIOXIDE GROUP Ltd 24 Jan 1977 [25 Feb 1976] 07327/76 Heading F4P In a process for recovering chlorine from a chlorine-containing gas mixture, high boiling, compounds are removed before or after compressing the mixture, which is then cooled sufficiently to condense most of the chlorine in a heat exchanger 2 cooled by work-expanding at 10 a portion of the non-condensed gas. The condensed chlorine is collected in a separator 8, re-vaporized in path 4 of the exchanger 2 and extracted. The non-condensed gas is warmed in path 5 of exchanger 2 expanded at 10 and then withdrawn via path 6 of exchanger 2. A predetermined composition mixture of liquid chlorine and non-condensed gas is passed through path 7 of exchanger 2, compressed at 17 and either mixed with feed gas mixture as shown or returned to separator 8 via exchanger 2.
|
