A device is used for the measurement of gas flow rate, particularly of the induction gases in an IC engine. It consists essentially of a hot wire anemometer connected in a bridge circuit. The measuring head of the anemometer has two resistance wires (R1, R2) of the same material but different diameters. The wires, together with two fixed resistors (R3, R4) are connected in a bridge circuit. A differential amplifier (8) is connected across the bridge and its output is fed back to the bridge input. The current flowing through the bridge provides an indication of the gas flow rate. The anemometer wires are made of a material with a high temperature coefficient, which may be platinum, nickel, iron or tungsten.
|
