<p>Cephalosporin derivs. of formula (I): where R = H, acetoxy, carbamoyl or SR1; R1 = a 5-membered heterocyclic ring with 3-4 N-, O- or S-atoms, opt. substd. with one or two 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, methylthio, trifluoromethyl, -CO2R2 or -CH2CO2R2; R2 = H or 1-4C alkyl and their metal- and acid-addn. salts have broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against clinically important organisms. They give a high- and long-lasting blood level upon oral administration. The D-consign. in the side-chain is pref. (I) is e.g. 7-beta- D-2-amino-2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-acetamido -3-(1'-methyl- tetrazol-5'-yl-thiomethyl) ceph-3-em-4-carboxylic acid.</p> |
