<p>1388224 Aluminium halide catalyst solutions MOBIL OIL CORP 4 Sept 1973 [8 Sept 1972] 41586/73 Heading B1E [Also in Divisions C2 C3 and C5] A liquid catalyst comprises aluminium chloride a bromide dissolved in a methyl ester of n-butyric, n-valeric, n-hexanoic, isovaleric, trimethylacetic, 2-methylvaleric, 2-ethylbutyric or 2-ethylhexanoic acid in an amount greater than one mole per mole of the ester. The preferred amount of halide to ester is from 1.1 to 1.4 moles per mole of ester. The solution is formed by heating at from 30 to 50‹C. The catalysts are used in the polymerisation of olefines and the alkylation of isobutane with ethylene hydration of olefines or isomerisation of paraffins.</p> |
