Surfacing for sports and paying fields comprises an impact-damping layer upon which a wear-resistant layer is superposed. Both layers contain rubber chips (e.g. coarsely comminuted rubber waste) bonded together with a polyurethane binder.The impact-damping layer is stabilised by a reinforcing iron grid arranged between the layers. To accurately adjust the resiliency of the impact-damping layer, it may contain mineral additives e.g. concrete grit and/or sand.
