<p>A tampon applicator has an outer tube (1) containing the tampon (3), from which can be telescopically extended an inner tube (2) through which passes an extraction card (4). The outer tube is longer than the tampon, and excess portion extending beyond the end of the tampon is necked down. This necked part has grooves (5) along it. This leaves pockets (6) between the grooved parts and the inner tube. This enables water to contact the tubes during disposal, ensuring rapid destruction. The tubes may be of cardboard, soluble in water, and the grooves are of waffle form. Alternatively, the tubes may be of plastics material, also water soluble, and the grooves are moulded.</p> |
