Rotatory evaporator for delicately handling liquids - has monitors ensuring optimal working with minimal consumption of cooling water

Economies are effected in the volume of water necessary to cool the condenser of a rotatory evaporator. Coolant is only fed to the condenser when the rotatory drive and/or the heating arrangement are switched on; the coolant feed being cut off, when the drive and/or the heater are switched off. A solenoid controlled valve is fitted in the cooling water supply system of a rotatory evaporator having an electrical drive for the vaporising flask and/or an electrical heater, as well as a condenser connected to the vaporising flask. Connections from the drive and/or the heater to the valve solenoid act so that when the drive and/or the heater operate, the valve is open. The valve solenoid is connected in parallel to the supply for the drive and/or the heater, and a monitor in the circuit may be used to detect a flow of current to the drive and/or heater. Reduces to a minimum the amount of cooling water required whilst ensuring optimal working of the condenser without risk of damage or the necessity of expensive measuring devices.
